WHAT IS A SHORT SALE?
A Short Sale is a situation in
which the lender will agree to accept less than what is owed on the
original loan as the sale price, which enables the homeowner to sell
their property quickly. In most cases, a short sale is accepted due
to a financial hardship with the homeowner, and the home has
negative equity.
Why would a lender be willing
to accept a Short Sale?
Lenders are in the business of
lending and leveraging money, they do not want to own real estate. In
addition, they are federally regulated as to how many "Bad
Loans" they are able to have on their books at any given time
AND must have two to three times the amount lent in reserve too! So
