WHAT IS A SHORT SALE?

A Short Sale is a situation in which the lender will agree to accept less than what is owed on the original loan as the sale price, which enables the homeowner to sell their property quickly. In most cases, a short sale is accepted due to a financial hardship with the homeowner, and the home has negative equity.
